Sensational Summer Salads

Think salads are a boring side? Time to think again! In this 2-hour cooking class you will learn ways to make your salads into spectacular meals that will satisfy you and your family on hot summer days. With minimal cooking involved you can beat the heat, and fill up on great nutrition with easy and sensational summer salads. All it takes are a few skills, and thinking outside the box to crank your creativity so you can start creating salads to salivate for. Learn how to use a variety of ingredients like whole grains and plant proteins to make your salad into a complete meal. We will create and eat 3-4 different salads in the class enabling you to sample a variety, and you will go home with recipes and templates for salads and dressings so you can continue to experiment at home.

Shake, Smoothie and S’Cream

Summer is a great time to get your smoothie on – they’re light, quick meals that can really help you boost your intake of nutrient-dense fruits and veggies, not to mention the super-food possibilities! But smoothies aren’t all this 2-hour class offers…we’ll make a couple of amazing smoothies, talk about the secrets of putting together a great smoothie at home, and then we’ll move on to healthy shakes and plant powered ice cream that you can prepare in minutes – because summer is a great time to learn how to make these nutritious and healthy treats! Come sample, learn and take home a wealth of information about how to make your family’s summer delicious AND nutritious!

Greens are an incredibly important part of a healthy diet; they are the most nutrient dense foods we can eat, and they have the ability to prevent some of the most common chronic health issues we face in our society today. Are you getting a couple of cups of greens in your daily diet? In this class we will review the nutritional power of greens and why they are so important, as well as ideas for getting more of them into your day. Then we will make a few different recipes, including a smoothie/juice, and creative (and tasty) raw and cooked entrees, so you can see how easy it can be to boost your daily intake and meet that 2-cup quota.
