Healthy Plant-Based Cooking for Busy People

5-week series: Mondays, October 29, November 5, 19, 26 and December 3 — 5:30 – 7:30/8 pm
Location: Powell River Senior’s Centre in Cranberry

This 5-week series is all about strategies and plant-based cooking know-how for healthy, delicious meal prep for busy people. Want inspiration and ideas for how to make sure your family (no matter the size) is eating well and getting the nourishment they need, even when you are on the run? This class is for you. Food As Medicine: Plant-Based Cooking for Chronic Disease

4-week series: Thursdays, November 22 – December 13 — 5:30-7:30/8 pm
Location: Powell River Senior’s Centre in Cranberry
Cost: $160.00 pp (all food and equipment provided)

This 4-part series is designed for people and their loved ones who are looking to change their diet to improve a chronic disease, or those who are interested in more information about an optimal WFPB diet for prevention of common chronic diseases. Learn the nutrition science on why and how a whole-food plant-based diet can help improve common chronic diseases such as type II diabetes, heart disease and some cancers, as well as practical advice on what a healthy plant-based diet consists of on a daily basis. In the kitchen you will get hands-on cooking tips and techniques for making tasty, healing whole-foods plant-based meals without refined sugar, salt or oil, and each week you will get to sample food, so you can see how good it can be! A Healthy, Plant-Based Holiday

Food is such an important part of our traditions, and sometimes it can be challenging to stick to a healthier way of eating over the holidays. These classes are designed to help you not just get through the holidays feeling deprived, but get you inspired to have an AMAZING, DELICIOUS, as well as a healthy and compassionate, holiday season! In one class we will create a complete meal that could be served for a holiday dinner at home, and in the other we will focus on dishes that you can bring if you are attending a dinner at someone else’s home. Discussion will include some nutrition tips to keep holiday foods healthier, and we will share ideas on how to handle the pressure from friends, family and colleagues that can come at this time of year.
