Food is Medicine: Plant-Based for Chronic Disease

4-week series: Fridays, February 23 – March 16, 2018
Location: Powell River Recreation Complex

This 4-part series will be co-presented by Emma Levez Larocque (Plant-Based Chef and Registered Holistic Nutritionist) and Dr. Danielle Marentette (Family Physician). It is designed for people who are looking to change their diet to improve a chronic disease. Learn the nutrition science on why and how a whole-food plant-based diet can help improve common chronic diseases such as type II diabetes, heart disease and some cancers, as well as practical advice on what a healthy plant-based diet consists of on a daily basis. In the kitchen you will get hands-on cooking tips and techniques for making tasty, healing whole-foods plant-based meals without refined sugar, salt or oil, and each week you will get to sample food, so you can see how good it can be! Costs include all food and equipment. $205 + taxes 

Introduction to Plant-Based Cooking – a 6-part learn & eat series

6-week series: Wednesdays, March 7 – April 11, 2018
Location: Powell River Senior’s Centre in Cranberry

In this 6-part series you will learn the basic hows and whys of plant-based cooking and nutrition so that by the end of the 6 weeks you will feel confident about cooking a variety of tasty, healthy plant-based meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Each week we will focus on a different meal, making several delicious dishes so that you can learn and practice practical kitchen skills, acquire plant-based cooking know-how, and sample some delicious food.
